Volunteer work with a luxury vacation — is that possible?
More and more luxury tour operators are offering alternative travel including voluntourism to satisfy the growing demand for meaningful travel without sacrificing upmarket amenities.
Launching April 6, ITC Classics‘ Giving program offers luxury voluntourism vacations to choice destinations where travelers can be involved with carefully-selected community projects.
CEO Jennifer Atkinson said: “Today’s traveler is more aware than ever of their social responsibility and is in search of ever-more meaningful experiences. It was this feedback from our clients combined with our commitment as a business to give back charitably that instigated the development of the ITC Giving program.”
Travelers can chose to be involved in education, health care, conservation and wealth creation in countries like South Africa, Morocco, India, Thailand and Peru.
A 12-night trip to Morocco starts from £3,150 per person ($5,053 per person) based on double occupancy that includes accommodation at Kasbah Tamadot (Atlas Mountains) for 7 nights, including one night for leisure at Kasbah Tamadot, four nights learning about the cultural, social and economical background of healthcare and education in the villages of the High Atlas Mountains, two more nights at La Mamounia in Marrakech at the end of the trip.
ITC has partnered with ‘People and Places’ for this program.
